As you take the escalator into the station there is some decorative writing on the walls but the walls are so filthy and decayed you can't even read what to supposed to say.

Great hub if you rely on or aren't a public transportation snob. No criminal activity. Working class community. Walking distance to LACC. The 4 Bus East on the corner takes you to Silver Lake, Echo Park and DTLA. West takes you to Weho, Century City, and all the way to Santa Monica. Grab a chicken burrito at El Gran burrito. You won't regret it.
One nice thing is that this intersection offers a lot: pharmacy, mini market, gas (and what train passenger can pass that up, huh?) liquor, several food options and there's a head shop only half a block away that can now advertise their bong-cleaning service openly.
Exits to Santa Monica and close to LACC, occasionally sketchy individuals hang out above ground. There is a restroom that requires coins to use but I wouldn't trust it tbh.
Oh, and do yourself a favor, you fat lazy bastard and walk UP the stairs next time. (That was for me. Just a reminder to self.)

Once you wade through the plethora of homeless folks perpetually hanging out above the station, it's rather clean, well organized and I've never felt threatened here... although I can attest from firsthand experience that police helicopters circle over this hub at least twice every single week. I don't know what's going on; I don't WANT to know.

This is about the dirtiest metro station I've seen. There is rampant homelessness issues and criminal activity in and around the sidewalk seating area next to the entrance and everything is covered in bird feces.
