When I asked server about the double extra charge for poached eggs for the avocado toast item, she asked me whether I ate 2 poached eggs, which yes, I did, because it was served with 2 poached eggs(!). Then she said that therefore I had to pay for 2 extra egg charges, and that she could not make that 1 charge for extra egg. We thought that really rather odd - the menu just listed a single charge for adding poached egg, there was no mention by us or them of extra poached eggs. It's not that it was super expensive, it's just that this should be specified or asked beforehand. It's a rather unpleasant surprise to be doubly charged for something.
So overall, not the best start of our Sunday, and don't think we'll return.
Delicious vegetarian eats. Lots of flavor. Great prices. Perfect date night setting.
Love this place! They offer lots of amazing Vegetarian & some Vegan food options that are definitely worth trying. Located in the Exciting Newly Revived Arts District of DTLA, with ample modernistic indoor & romantically lit outdoor patio seating areas + additional space with bistro/bar setting tucked away in the back for more private/intimate dining experience. Service is great and the food, dessert & beverage selections are surely worth a try.
Mixed experience at Zinc. We had brunch here this morning. Drinks (chai latte and matcha latte) were good, the avocado toast with poached egg dish was pretty good (though for one poached egg the egg white was a bit too runny).
The avocado toast we ordered with poached egg. We had not asked for multiple poached eggs, nor had they asked how many we wanted, nor did they say beforehand that every poached egg charged as extra. When I got the plate, it was served with 2 poached eggs.
This is a very attractive place in the Art District that features a street side covered patio and a back patio with umbrellas. It is dog friendly, which is very important to me. There is no table service. You go to the counter and Order and the food is brought to you. I found the portions to be on the small side. I find the pricing to be a bit more expensive than it's worth. IE: I paid $5 for a muffin. It should have been the best muffin I've ever eaten for five bucks and it was far from that. I doubt I would go back. Employees were all very friendly & accommodating
The waffle, though it looked good, was pretty much cold when served. We had it sent back, and got another one, which was a little warmer, but still not really warm (as one would expect from a freshly made waffle). When we got the check, the waffle was on there twice, and there were 2 charges for poached egg for the avocado toast. They removed the extra waffle charge - apparently someone had added this because we had sent back the first cold waffle, and it wasn't initially removed for the final bill.
Thoroughly enjoyed my visit here. There's a beautiful outdoor seating area and an easily accessible indoor space that overlooks the outdoor seating area. There's also seating area in front that kind of like old-fashioned porch. The food has very much a vegan flare but you can find almost anything on the menu. I had a grilled cheese it was delicious which came with a salad with feta and tomatoes. Highly recommend the place.
