I am a Czech citizen living in USA, in San Francisco. I have to say that I hate dealing with bureaucracy but this consulate is quite the opposite. They ALWAYS pick up the phone, don't let you wait and if you happen to call during lunch break or super busy hours, they ALWAYS call back. Professional, nice and extremely helpful and patient. I have no complaints. In fact I think that this is how every consulate should work. Thank you for being here for us!:) Ivana Scott (Starikova)
Tried several times to phone but always received only an answering machine sending me to other messages. Could not find a live person. I emailed asking for an appointment but meantime no response. Will keep you posted.-- Got contacted and given necessary information. Taking back my above complaint, except I would still like someone who picks up the phone at least during the official working hours. :-)
Considering the 15 hours a week working hours there should be more people available to help out.

I am a citizen of Russia and permanent resident of the USA and needed tourist visa. Contacted them by e-mail and they replied next day with detailed info. Contacted them by phone to confirm that online info was correct. They were polite, friendly and caring - they were concerned for me to have enough time to get a visa. Personal visit took 15 min and was all about business. The lady who checked my papers said that everything is "perfect" and she needed only one additional paper. She was frank that she does not know exact name of this document but we understood each other. She regretted that they did not have free map of Prague available:) I visited a few consulates before (not the Czech Rep.) and I feel weird after visiting this one because I did not have to prove that I am a good reliable person, I did not feel intimidated, all talk was about paperwork, and it took no time. I appreciate their work and help very much.
Skvělá zkušenost s českým konzulátem. Paní byla nesmírně ochotná, milá a empatická. Sjednání schůzky bylo hned na druhý den a vydání dočasného pasu bylo otázkou minut. Budova je moc hezká a zaměstnanci příjemní.
