This carousel is amazing. There are 64 unique hand-carved wooden figures and a universally accessible standing chariot. The carousel music is fun and there is almost never a long line to enter.
The Tom Mankiewicz Conservation Carousel is located inside of the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens. There are several different animals that riders can choose from and there is even a bench to sit on, if you'd rather not ride on one of the animals...since they go up and down. Each animal on the carousel was hand carved on wood and different from the other. There is a $3 charge per ride, per rider, which is a little expensive for such a quick ride - but it does help conserve the animals.
Beautiful weather, great company, and enjoy the efforts the zoo makes to accommodate their animals and the guests too. Love the little tidbit info cards on how the zoo is helping certain species to populate, and I think it is so much nicer these days for the animals. They are happy with their home and the zoo keepers. I noticed that the little circular cubicles that use to contain two or three species Gabe expanded the space do that it only contains one, giving the animals much more space. Just a lovely experience.
I thought this place was a lot cooler than some of the other reviews. it also was a little harder to find than some others said lol but it was a short hike there. if you enjoy photography, then you will most likely enjoy coming a lot more! I know I did.
Love it
