Thank you Dr. Yeh:
Once I got into the UCLA health system, I had the quickest turnaround from my first initial meeting with Dr. Yeh and the actual surgery. I had an abnormal nodule in my right thyroid which I had to get removed with a lobectomy. It was scary when I first found out about it - every single person says thyroid cancer is the "best" cancer to get, but it was still difficult to process. After accepting the fact, I told myself not to feel worried because I believed the best people are pointing me in the right direction. You have to be trusting in the medical world. Dr. Yeh was highly recommended by my physician and he came out as the top choice after doing thorough research. As opposed to scars that remain with other surgeons, the scar from mine was very small, and I like to wear it as my battle scar, a symbol of what I've been through.
From the time I saw doctor Michael Yeh for consultation of my thyroid issue, to the day I left UCLA hospital after removing my thyroid, I had the best experience a patient can have. Doctor Yeh's caring and pleasant demeanor put me at ease and knew I was in good hands. Surgery went very well and his follow up during my stay in the hospital was extra ordinary. The care I received from Dr. Yeh and his staff and UCLA hospital in general was very professional and caring. They have my support and 5 stars.
My diagnosis for papillary thyroid cancer came out of nowhere when I was starting college. The surgery went very smoothly and had no complications. I had a surgery on a Friday and was back in classes by Tuesday. Dr.Yeh was very accommodating with scheduling and had the procedure fit my schedule. He had two 4 way video conference and made the entire experience seamless.
I went to an appointment with another doctor where they found a small nodule on my throat. They said it was no big deal, and a few days later I had a biopsy of it and in Hawaii I found it was cancer. The doctor who found it was calm but I panicked. Eventually after meeting with my doctor he told me to set up an appointment with Dr. Yeh as the surgeon. I did a lot of research of where to go, and I spoke to people at a lot of different universities. Also I had a few friends that just finished medical school at Dr. Yeh. One of my friends helped me get an appointment with him 2 weeks earlier than it was. As soon as I met Dr. Yeh, it was the first time I felt like this cancer was treatable. Dr. Yeh didnt introduce himself as one of the top endocrine surgeons, but as a kind caring person who just wants to help. I remember he came in and introduced himself as Michael, not as doctor, looked me in the eye and shook my hand. He explained everything at a level at I can understood, and calmed my mother and helped her understand. I wasn’t too nervous coming into the surgery cause I knew I was in the right hands. After the surgery as I was getting my check ups, everyone that looks at the area they say it was amazing. I have less than 1 percent chance of this cancer returning, and I owe a lot of that to Dr. Yeh. I wish he was my day to day. Even with all my doctors that I see, I can always rely on Dr. Yeh explaining things to me in a way I understand and which makes me comfortable.
This was my first experience having surgery and Dr. Yeh made this smooth and easy from the beginning for me. He was extremely professional, intelligent, empathetic and on top of that his office was very flexible with the scheduling. I would recommend him to anyone without reservations. Thank you!
